If you believe what you read in the papers, City could be in for a busy week in the transfer market.
The Blues have been heavily linked with Alvaro Negredo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Stevan Jovetic in recent days.
And there’s been a number of stories suggesting one or two of the current squad may be on their way out of the Etihad – such is the summer transfer merry-go-round.
One possible in-coming could be Montenegro striker Jovetic, according to Shaun Custis of The Sun, at least. He reports: “Jovetic is on the verge of a £27million Manchester City move.
“Only personal terms have to be finalised — with the striker, 23, eyeing a five-year £120,000-a-week Etihad deal.
“SunSport revealed last Tuesday how City boss Manuel Pellegrini wanted the Fiorentina ace to replace Carlos Tevez.
“A source close to the Montenegro star said: 'It’s pretty much sorted he’ll go to City. They just have to sort his contract. It shouldn’t be a big problem.’”
One story that has lingered all summer has been Juventus’ alleged pursuit of Aleks Kolarov.
Forza Italian Football’s Sam Lewis writes: “Juventus are preparing another bid for Manchester City left-back Aleksandar Kolarov, according to reports.
“The Citizens defender has been a target for some time, and is not regarded a first choice by the English club.
“Tuttosport report that Juventus are going make another bid for the Serbian after their first one was rejected by City earlier this summer.”
Elsewhere, what was probably a throwaway comment by City legend-in-the-making Pablo Zabaleta during a magazine interview has been churned out and regurgitated on a number of websites today.
The Sunday Express’ snippet is typical of many others as they report: “The Argentine defender, 28, was impressive last season, playing 43 times in all competitions.
“But he has revealed he would relish the chance to play in Italy and confesses to being a fan of Fiorentina
“He said: ‘Serie A is a major championship. It’s certainly a league I’d like to play in.’”
Hardly a case of the much-loved City warrior banging down the manager’s door and demanding a move! Keep tuning in to mcfc.co.uk this week for all the genuine transfer activity…
