City are chasing another Serie A striker according to reports this morning - with AC Milan’s Stephan El Shaarawy said to have caught the Blues’ eye.
With the Edinson Cavani saga looking set to drag on (and on) in this summer’s media round up, website forzaitalianfootball.com have translated a report in Gazzetta dello Sport to add the 20-year-old Italian’s name to the extensive list of players linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium.
The website reports: “AC Milan would be willing to allow star young talent Stephan El Shaarawy to leave for Manchester City if they receive an offer of €40m.
“The Azzurri international burst on to the scene last season with 18 goals and six assists in all competitions despite being just 19 when the campaign began.
“Gazzetta dello Sport believe that the Rossoneri will allow ‘Il Faraone’ to leave the club should they get the money for him that they require from the beaten FA Cup finalists.”
Elsewhere, Frenchman Gael Clichy could be on his way back across the channel – if a story in the Daily Star is to be believed.
The defender is set to be a target for high-spending Ligue 1 outfit Monaco, should they fail in an attempt to lure Patrice Evra from Manchester United.
The paper’s Harry Pratt writes: “Evra’s position at Old Trafford will be in serious jeopardy should Moyes persuade his former club to sell him Baines in a £20million deal.
“However, Monaco coach Claudio Ranieri is reluctant to wait too long for that part of the jigsaw to fall into place, fearing any breakdown in negotiations would leave his club empty-handed.
“That is why he has a back-up plan already to buy City defender Clichy, 27, should Evra be unavailable.”
It is worth bearing in mind that Clichy signed a new contract with the Blues just a few weeks ago.
He said at the time: “This is a fantastic football club and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. I’m really happy and I am sure it will be this way for many years.”
That hasn’t appeared to put the brakes on these exit rumours though!
Finally, the Blues are reportedly keen to land another French defender, Adil Rami from Valencia after the centre back publicly expressed his desire to leave the La Liga side.
Rami has made 74 appearances since moving to Valencia in 2011 and is also reportedly a target for Arsenal and Paris Saint Germain.
“My desire is to find a bigger club,” the 27-year-old is quoted as saying in the Daily Express.
As ever, nothing is confirmed until you read it here on mcfc.co.uk!
