City are targeting ‘the Welsh David Silva’ in the summer transfer window, according to reports today.

The Blues are set to make an £8m bid for Crystal Palace midfielder Jonathan Williams – according to the Daily Mirror.

The paper’s David McDonnell reports: “Liverpool and Swansea are also tracking the 19-year-old, but Premier League champions City are said to be in pole position to sign the Wales Under-21 starlet

“Palace boss Ian Holloway has compared diminutive midfielder Williams to City's current playmaker David Silva, in terms of his style of play.

“And Eastlands officials have made a preliminary enquiry about Williams, who was watched by Mancini’s assistant David Platt a fortnight ago.”

Meanwhile, ESPN concentrate on a potential exit from the Etihad Stadium – Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko.

The website reports: “Roberto Mancini has hinted Edin Dzeko may leave Manchester City in the summer, but has warned potential suitors that only offers above €20 million will be considered.

“Mancini's comments came in response to reports linking Dzeko with a return to the Bundesliga. While acknowledging the importance of the 26-year-old to his squad, Mancini stated he would be willing to listen to offers in the coming months.

"’Dzeko, for me, is a great player. In Italy he could score more than 20 goals a season but he would cost €20 million (£17 million), maybe more.’"

Elsewhere, the media looks ahead to tomorrow’s FA Cup clash with Barnsley at the Etihad Stadium.

Barnsley keeper Luke Steele is full of admiration for Joe Hart ahead of Saturday evening’s game.

Mark Walker writes in the Independent: “Joe Hart is England's undisputed number one and will be for years to come, according to the goalkeeper plotting to outshine him this weekend in Manchester City's FA Cup clash with Barnsley at the Etihad Stadium.

"‘For me he's the best, he's proved he's the best,’ said Steele, for whom Manchester United paid £500,000 to Peterborough in 2002 when he was a teenager.

"‘There's nobody better in the country for me in that position and he's showed that time and again.

"‘Last year he won the Premier League title, so you can't get much better than that.’”

Should be a great game!
