Plenty of transfer news to be picked over today – and Edinson Cavani is back in the headlines once again.

The Napoli striker has been linked with City repeatedly over recent weeks and months, but now the Sun reports that the Blues could face serious competition from Chelsea for his signature.

Geoff Sweet writes: “City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain sought to steal a march on the Stamford Bridge club this year.

“But Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis was understood to be in London yesterday talking to Chelsea about the Uruguayan, who has hit 103 goals in 137 Napoli games.”

It looks like Cavani could be putting in plenty more appearances in our media round-up before this one is settled!

Elsewhere, with plenty of strikers said to be on the move this summer, the Daily Express has added the name of Carlos Tevez to the mix.

Having won promotion to Ligue 1, Monaco are reportedly set to splash the cash  and the Argentinian striker is said to be on their wishlist.

Charles Perrin explains: “The affluent Ligue 2 champions-in-waiting are planning to build a team capable of winning France's top division next season.

“Tevez's future has been the subject of much conjecture, and he blamed the club for pricing him out of a move back to hometown club Boca Juniors.

“Moreover, he cut a dejected figure when he was substituted after 69 minutes during City's 1-0 FA Cup final loss to Wigan.”

But Tevez played the full 90 minutes against Reading on Tuesday nightwatch the highlights here.

Finally, Fiorentina are chasing City keeper Costel Pantilimon, according to reports in Italy.

The 26-year-old has appeared seven times between the posts for the Blues this season, including an impressive run in the FA Cup when he conceded just one goal in five games, but lost his place to Joe Hart in the final.

Website forzaitalianfootball.com quotes him as saying: “Interest from Fiorentina? My agents are working on it, as I am focused only on my football. Bogdan Lobont and Cristian Chivu told me great things about Florence and Serie A would be a dream for me,” Pantilimon told La Nazione.

“I also talked with Matija Nastasic about the Viola, while the team currently has my former Manchester City teammates David Pizarro and Stefan Savic.”
