Dzeko on Wenger wish list...

Rumours earlier in the week that Edin Dzeko could be on the move in January are once again doing the rounds this morning.

If a story in the Telegraph is to be believed, the Bosnian hit man is one of three strikers that Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger has his eye on this winter.

“Arsenal are monitoring Edin Dzeko, Karim Benzema and Javier Hernández in the hope of still making a major signing in January, with Olivier Giroud’s training schedule also being tailored to reduce the risk of injury,” writes Jeremy Wilson.

“Wenger made attempts to recruit Gonzalo Higuaíín, Luis Suárez, Wayne Rooney and Demba Ba during the summer transfer window and, although Bendtner stayed, he would ideally still like to add a striker of proven quality in January.

“Although Dzeko and Hernández have struggled for first-team opportunities this season, it is hard to imagine either Manchester City or Manchester United being willing to strengthen Arsenal mid-season.”

Elsewhere, Samir Nasri has been speaking to French media about his hopes of being in Brazil next summer ahead of Les Bleus’ first leg play-off against the Ukraine tonight.

“As a footballer, I always dreamed of playing a World Cup. It is important to be part of the group and take part in these dreams. We all want to be there,” said the midfielder.

I missed South Africa and I do not want to feel that kind of situation again.

"I want to go to Brazil. The fact of not having played the 2010 World Cup gives me even more drive. But we still have to pass the Ukrainian obstacle.”

Good luck, Samir!

Don’t forget, we’ll have a full match report on that game as well as England’s friendly with Chilie on the site later tonight.
