Why Joe is Poles apart

City fans don’t need reminding Joe Hart is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, but if the negative Press he’s received over the past few months is anything to go by, there are plenty of others who do.
So when one of the most coveted strikers in Europe claims Joe is up there with the best, perhaps some of his detractors will sit up and take notice.
The welcome endorsement comes from Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski who was left scratching his head after a one-man act of defiance at the Etihad Stadium last season earned City a 1-1 draw – a display the Polish forward hasn’t forgotten.
Dave Kidd in the Sunday Mirror writes: “Poland hot-shot Lewandowski admits he fears facing Joe Hart on Tuesday – because the City keeper defied him last season with ‘one of the best goalkeeping displays I’ve ever seen’.
“Hart made a string of world-class saves for City in their Champions League draw with Lewandowski’s Borussia Dortmund at the Etihad last year.
“And although England No.1 Hart has been under fire recently, Lewandowski has nothing but respect for the man he must beat at Wembley on Tuesday night.
‘Maybe Hart has made one or two errors but all I can talk about is my personal experience of playing against him.
When Dortmund played in Manchester last season in Europe he produced one of the best goalkeeping displays I have seen
‘We only got a draw but we would have scored four or five if it hadn’t been for him. If he plays like that again then he will be very hard to beat.’”
In other news, Alan Nixon in the Sunday People suggests the Sky Blues are closing in on a deal that will bring talented Dutch youngster Rodney Kongolo to the Etihad.
He reports: “Manchester City have won the race to sign Feyenoord's young midfield general Rodney Kongolo - under the noses of Chelsea and Liverpool.
“The teenager will join City officially shortly, with a compensation package about to be agreed with the Dutch club who brought him through their ranks.
Kongolo is set to become the next top talent snapped up by City who are determined to get the best of the next wave of players
“The youngster - whose older brother plays in the first team - is a strong-running starlet dubbed the 'next Patrick Vieira.'
“Ironically Vieira will play a big part in his progress as he is in charge of the City set-up at the development level.”
Finally, the latest club linked to be linked with Micah Richards is Serie A side Roma, though few of the reports of this type rarely mention Micah has only just returned to full fitness.
The Sunday Mirror’s Marc Isaacs writes: “Roma are expected to make a move for Richards when the transfer window re-opens in January.
“The England defender only made eight appearances for the club last year, while he has only featured twice under new manager Manuel Pellegrini this season.” (Note – because he was injured!)
“With Pablo Zabaleta appearing to be the first choice right back, Richards is finding it hard to secure a regular first-team place at the Etihad Stadium.
“Reports in Italy claim Roma are keen to sign another defender in the New Year and have identified Richards as one of their main targets.”
