Independent: City first in line for wantaway Isco?

There are three pieces of transfer gossip for you to digest on this Friday morning...

Isco’s name is a familiar one to these pages where we round-up the day’s headlines and he’s back after Real Madrid completed the signing of World Cup star, James Rodriguez.

The former Malaga playmaker is said to be considering a move away from the Bernabeu and the Independent’s Marc Williams believes that the Premier League champions could head the queue.

Williams writes: “Isco picked to join Real over City in 2013 and scored eight goals in 32 league appearances in his first season with them last term.

“But now, his services at the Bernabeu may no longer be needed.

“Isco played under Manuel Pellegrini during their time together at Malaga and the City boss is interested in bringing the Spaniard to the Eithad.

“The 22-year-old would be a good replacement for Alvaro Negredo, who is set to be out of action for up to three months after having surgery on his broken metatarsal.”

Elsewhere, there are rumours that Javi Garcia could be on his way back to Benfica on a season-long loan.

According to Portuguese news outlet, Record, the Spanish midfielder could return to the Stadium of Light, following the arrival of Fernando this summer.

Inside Futbol have translated the story, quoting: “Benfica are interested in signing Javi Garcia from Manchester City on a season-long loan deal.

“The Spaniard joined Manchester City in the summer of 2012 from the Eagles on a five-year contract.

“Garcia has failed to pin-down a place in the Citizens’ starting eleven however, and made only 14 Premier League starts last season.

“The Portuguese outfit are keen to bring him back to the club and are exploring options to sign him this summer.”

Finally, TalkSport are reporting that Barcelona could rival City for the signing of PSG centre-back, Marquinhos.

“Manchester City target Marquinhos has been the subject of a shock £32m bid from Barcelona, reports in Spain have claimed,” TalkSports story reads.

“The 20-year-old centre-back looks set to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer following the arrival of David Luiz from Chelsea.

“The French club splashed out £27m to land Marquinhos from Roma a year ago but he struggled for form in his first Ligue 1 season - and will be further marginalised with Luiz expected to partner compatriot Thiago Silva in central defence.”

That’s all for today – remember that any confirmed transfer stories will be posted here on mcfc.co.uk first this summer.
