Magath: Perhaps Dzeko should come to Fulham

After the fixture pile-up of recent weeks, it now feels like a long time since City last took to the field – even if it was only seven days ago!
Fear not, now we have two games in four days to savour, starting with today’s traditional 3pm kick off against Fulham.
While it might be usual for some managers to stir things up in their pre-match press conference, Fulham boss Felix Magath has picked an interesting way of doing it – suggesting Edin Dzeko should move to Craven Cottage!
The MEN quote him as saying: “Edin has a difficult situation because he’s not the only striker at Manchester City. They have a lot of very good players. Perhaps he should come to Fulham. He could score many more goals here than at Man City.”
The Bosnian has 18 goals to his name so far this term, so he’s not doing too badly in a City shirt Felix…
Moving on to the game at hand, the German is hoping his relegation-threatened team can earn a point at the Etihad by keeping those City strikers at bay.
He continued: “I’m looking to take a point at Man City, so we’ll see. We want to win our home games and we did well against Newcastle.
“We’re developing step by step and I was satisfied with the game against Newcastle because we didn’t concede.
“There is always a chance, even in difficult games like Manchester City. Now we know that we must not concede. We can defend very well.
“If we make it difficult for Man City to score, we’ll have a chance to score for ourselves. I hope we’ll create more chances.”
Well, we’ll all know in just a few hours’ time how successful his plan has been!
Elsewhere, and more transfer gossip from the more usual suspects. Caught Offside are claiming that AS Roma are eyeing up a summer move for Stevan Jovetic to bring him back to Serie A after a solitary season in the Premier League.
Writes Steven Green: “The 24-year-old made the move to the Etihad last summer in a £24m deal from Fiorentina, but thanks to a series of injury problems he has found breaking into the City first team more difficult than first expected.
“Jovetic is still highly regarded in Italy following a successful spell with La Viola, but having only left last year he may be intent on giving life with the Sky Blues one more chance in a bid to prove himself.”
So a team might be interested, but he might not go. That clears that up then.
It’s definitely a day for forwards in the headlines, and last to step up is Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale, who has revealed that City are still his top pick to lift the Premier League trophy in May.
The Welshman told the Sun: "There’s so much going on in the Premier League. Everyone’s beating everybody and it’s exciting to watch. I said at the start of the season Man City will win the title and I’ll stick with that.”
