Fernandinho is determined to mark Manuel Pellegrini’s final campaign at City with the Premier League crown.

Back-to-back defeats to rivals Leicester and Spurs have seen pundits writing off the Blues’ title hopes by the droves, but the Brazil star believes City are far from a spent force.

He also wants to land the biggest prize in English football for the manager he says is like a father figure to him.

‘The first season we won two titles together,’ Fernandinho told BBC's Football Focus. ‘I learnt a lot of things with him so he was like a father for me.

‘He introduced me into the team and to play alongside a lot of good players.

‘I think he did a great job and we've got a great chance to finish with a gold key. We have a chance to win the title again and I hope we can do that.’”

In Italy, reports suggest Inter Milan are not keen on taking Stevan Jovetic on a permanent deal, despite agreeing to buy the on-loan Montenegro striker at the end of the current campaign.

Via Here Is the City, Tuttosport report that Inter Milan have contacted City to see if they will have to honour the deal.

They report: “Last summer, City allowed Jovetic to return to Serie A after failing to replicate the form that made him a huge success with Fiorentina between 2008 and 2013.

“The terms of the 18-month deal included an obligation for Inter to purchase Jovetic for £12million at the end of the contract, which is scheduled to run out at the end of 2016, but the Serie A side reportedly want to cancel the agreement.

“Since moving to the San Siro, Jovetic has netted just five times in 20 appearances in all competitions, a goals-per-game ratio that he maintained over 42 matches with Manchester City.

“Given that the Montenegro international has failed to improve in the last six months and has scored just one league goal since August 30, City may order Inter to fulfil the original agreement.”

Finally, the Blues continue to be linked with highly-rated Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka.

The player has recently been quoted as saying he would find it hard to say no if City came calling and the Mail suggest the knock may come this summer.

They write: “City are considering a move for Xhaka but they are yet to make an offer for the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder.

“Pep Guardiola could try to bring the 23-year-old with him from Germany to England in the summer but Monchengladbach are demanding dizzy money for the Switzerland star.

“Xhaka is keen on a move to the Barclays Premier League and could act as a replacement for Yaya Toure, who is expected to leave at the end of this season

“Reports from Germany on Thursday morning suggested that City had offered €50million (£39m) for Xhaka but that is not believed to be the case.

“That fee is also considered high for the player whose contract with Monchengladbach runs until 2019.”
