More build-up to the 171st Manchester derby, plus a transfer rumour about a French youngster…

We start our round-up with a trip to the Telegraph, who run quotes from Joe Hart about the season so far.

28-year old Hart comments that it’s been a ‘crazy league’ this campaign, as well as stating that he can’t put his finger on why some of the results haven’t gone City’s way this year.

The England shot stopper is quoted as saying: “It’s nice that we can still be considered possible champions, but that will go out the window if we don’t win our next couple of games.

“As long as it is mathematically possible, we will fight. But we have got to be realistic as well.”

“It’s been really frustrating for us and it’s almost as if we put ourselves in a hole, dig ourselves out of it, and put ourselves back in it.

“We really haven’t performed consistently this season and ultimately that’s why we’re so far off the league.

“It’s a crazy league, but everyone is in the position they’re in on merit.

“The league table doesn’t lie. It might lie over the first five games, but it doesn’t after 30.

“It’s a tough one to get my head around because at some points this season we’ve cruised and we’ve looked good, especially at the start of the season. Then there are some points where we’ve lost comfortably. We’ve been hammered in some games.

“I can’t put my finger on why. I think everybody at the club struggles to explain it. It’s been a difficult year.”

Keeping with the derby theme and the Manchester Evening News feature Sergio Aguero’s record against Manchester United in five things to look out for in the Manchester derby from a City perspective.

James Robson writes: “Sergio Aguero needs a hat-trick to equal Wayne Rooney as the most prolific goal-scorer in derby history.

Aguero

“He goes into Sunday’s clash with eight goals in eight games against United - which leaves him level with Eric Cantona, Colin Bell, Joe Spence and Brian Kidd.

“Rooney is the leading scorer in derby history with 11 goals - but the United striker’s injury gives Aguero the perfect opportunity to close the gap.”

And finally, the Daily Mail are reporting that City have joined the race to sign French youngster Ousmane Dembele.

Simon Jones scribes: “Manchester City are ready to compete with Europe's elite for coveted Rennes winger Ousmane Dembele.

“City were first alerted to the outstanding French prospect by Patrick Vieira who recommended they look to sign him last year.

“The 18-year-old only made his first team breakthrough this season and is emerging as one of the hottest transfer targets for the summer with Bayern Munich and Barcelona pushing for Rennes to agree a deal.”
