Most papers pick up on Roberto Mancini’s promise that City will win silverware this year as the boss toasts his third anniversary with the club.
“The City manager has a deep conviction that all is in order and that his course is set fair for at least three more years,” writes The Independent’s Ian Herbert.
“He will win either the Premier League or FA Cup this spring, he predicted.
“The Italian has a right to that self- belief. Only twice in his 11 full years as a manager has he failed to win silverware.
‘"I always win,"’ he said. ‘"I can't do nothing about this!"’
Elsewhere this morning, website goal.com claims City have stepped up their interest in Brazilian star Neymar.
“City’s Director of Football Txiki Begiristain sparked feverish speculation in football circles this week when he made a secret mission to the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo,” reports Greg Stobart.
“The Manchester City director of football flew out to South America on Tuesday and while the precise purpose of his visit is not yet clear, there have been suggestions that the Premier League champions are considering a move for Santos star Neymar.
“Santos have vehemently denied reports that an agreement has already been reached for Neymar to join Barcelona, so could City be ready to enter the race for the poster boy of World Cup 2014?”
Needless to say, we here at mcfc.co.uk will be first with any transfer news this New Year.
