City on Silva:
David Silva must have felt at home straight away at the City of Manchester Stadium, having conjured the winning goal on his previous visit.
He was joint top scorer with four goals in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championships, helping Spain to reach the quarter-finals, and made his senior debut in November, 2006.
David's exploits earned him a seven-year contract and he made more than 140 appearances for Valencia, scoring 20 goals, before deciding to join City's Blue Revolution. He quickly adjusted to the demands of English football, with a brilliant individual goal at Bloomfield Road helping him win City's player of the month award for October. More influential performances saw him scoop the same prize in the following month.
Since joining City he's gone on to become one of the world's best midfielders, helping his country to the Euro 2012 prize, making him a world and European champion.
He also has Premier League and FA Cup winners medals in his bulging collection, as well as individual honours which include a place in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year in 2012 and the City Player of the Year Award for the same season.
Silva made 41 appearances in the 2012/13 season, scoring five goals and assisting 13.
He was again at his sparkling best as City won the Premier League title in 2013/14 and was also a Capital One Cup winner as City beat Sunderland 3-1 at Wembley.
