City on Nightingale:
Hyde-born centre-back Chelsea Nightingale joined City in 2011, having previously played for Tameside, Greater Manchester and Manchester United.
The defender has always stayed local to her hometown and has become a key component in the Blues’ side.
With a deep passion for the game, Nightingale is admired for her strength, commitment and desire. A strong tackler too, she never gives up and will fight to the end.
Stepping into her fifth year with City, Nightingale is familiar with many members of the team. She played a vital role in the 2012 Championship-winning and 2014 Continental Cup-winning sides and is now relishing the chance to play against some of the league’s top international stars once again.
Nightingale always wants to improve herself and whilst rubbing shoulders with some of the best, she is bound to do so.
Her target for next year is to earn some long-awaited minutes for Nick Cushing’s side, having missed a large portion of the 2015 season through injury.
As the Blues bid to prove themselves as FA Women’s Super League title contenders once again, Nightingale hopes she can play a role.
With so much expectation upon her, Nightingale certainly has the right attitude and determination to cement her 'rising star' status.
