City on Nightingale:

Hyde-born centre-back Chelsea Nightingale joined City in 2011, having previously played for Tameside, Greater Manchester and Manchester United.

The defender has always stayed local to her hometown and has become a key component in the Blues’ side.

With a deep passion for the game, Nightingale is admired for her strength, commitment and desire. A strong tackler too, she never gives up and will fight to the end.

Stepping into her third year with City, Nightingale is familiar with many members of the team. She played a vital role in the 2012 Championship-winning side and is now relishing the chance to play against some of the league’s top international stars.

Nightingale always wants to improve herself and whilst rubbing shoulders with some of the best, she is bound to do so.

Her target for this year is to become a first-team regular for Nick Cushing’s side. As they bid to prove themselves as a FA Women’s Super League club, Nightingale hopes that they can do so by picking up some silverware.

With so much expectation, Nightingale certainly has the right attitude and determination to become a key member of the new-look City side.
