City on Cushing:

Manchester City Women manager Nick Cushing was appointed to his role in November 2013.

Having worked at the club in various coaching capacities over a nine-year period, Chester-born Cushing was delighted to accept the challenge, which may prove to be his toughest yet.

The 29-year-old started his career as a schools coach, working with junior teams. He then went on to become part of the coaching staff at Manchester City’s Academy.

During that time, he worked within the 12-16 Development Phase of coaching, collecting an A-Licence qualification along the way. He has also studied Management and Leadership, plus Business and Accounting.

Having recently earned praise from several members of his side for his man-management, Cushing is admired for his ability to get the best out of his players, as he hopes to ensure the Blues become a competitive force in their debut season in the FA Women’s Super League.

Cushing is also well-known for keeping his feet firmly on the ground. After a tough start to life in the top flight, he refused to panic, insisting the results would come good in due course – and they did.

The boss highlights hard work and concentration as the key components for his side’s recent turn in fortunes and no doubt he will be looking for continued improvement as the season progresses.
