City on Johnston:
City striker Krystle Johnston joined the Blues in 2008 from Sheffield FC.
Affectionately known as 'Joey', the Bury-born sharp-shooter played a key role in the side that topped the Northern Premier League in 2012 and describes that achievement as her greatest yet.
Admired for her strength and speed, Johnston has a fine goalscoring record, finding the net more than 100 times for the Blues – a tally she hopes to add to in the coming campaign.
With three strikers challenging for a place in Nick Cushing’s starting line-up, competition will be hot.
Johnston already has an impressive partnership with Danielle Young and now hopes to create another successful bond with England international Toni Duggan.
City’s attacking trio all know how to find the net but Johnston will face her toughest test yet when she has her first taste of top flight football – and top flight defending!
Having played for the Blues for five years, Johnston has witnessed the radical transformation the club has undertaken and is now relishing the chance to test her ability against and alongside some of the best players in the country when the Blues begin their FA Women’s Super League adventure in April.
