City Square is the perfect place to get in the mood for the season’s opener against Southampton.
Another City ‘football first’ sees an outdoor exhibition of football photographer Stuart Clarke’s images from the season-defining QPR match. Resident photographer at the National Football Museum, Stuart’s images focus on the fans, rather than the football, and capture the passion and emotion from the day.
We’ll also be showing the photos you submitted for our Twitter and Instagram #cityphotocomp from the final day of last season. You can also use Twitter to let us know your pre-match thoughts for the big screen as #blueview returns.
Tommy Booth and Ian Cheeseman are on stage talking about the pre-season, the Community Shield win and hopes for the 2012/13 season. There will also be an interview on stage with Cyril Mintz – one of our favourite YouTube Heroes from last season.
The GB Taekwondo team return to City Square to celebrate their Olympic success. Jade Jones, Lutalo Muhammed and Martin Stamper joined us in City Square last season as they trained for the Olympics and we look forward to welcoming them back as medal winners.
The City Square video screen will be showing highlights from the Community Shield, moments from the Summer Tour and City v Southampton from 1971, when Colin Bell and Franny Lee scored for the Blues.
City in the Community are in City Square with skills sessions as a taster of the specialist skills sessions running throughout the summer break.
At half time, look out for two City legends from the last Community Shield win as Tony Book and Tommy Booth will be carrying the Community Shield onto the pitch.
