Three points a must says Lescott

Joleon Lescott knows the pressure is on City to take three points against Liverpool and reduce the gap at the top back down to seven points.
With United continuing to power on at the top, the Blues must at least match their results to prevent the Reds’ lead becoming unassailable – but Lescott believes Liverpool will prove a difficult obstacle this afternoon.
“Liverpool are chasing a European place so it will be another tough occasion,” he said. “But we are not playing badly; it’s just that we didn’t score in midweek at QPR.
“In recent games we have been creating more and scoring. We need to start winning games again and putting pressure on United, especially when we play before them. Now they’ve played before us, taken three points and the gap is wider.
But we couldn’t have won the league on Tuesday night, nor could we have lost it, so we just need to keep going
“It’s about concentrating on our own game and being there to take advantage if and when they do slip up.”
City have been imperious defensively of late with six successive clean sheets and it is close to ten hours since the Blues conceded a goal. Lescott believes the defenders, as a unit, have been at the top of their game of late.
“I pride myself on clean sheets and it was nice to get another one at QPR, but Zaba has been quality, Gareth Barry is as consistent as anyone and Javi Garcia has proved, as he did at Stoke, that he can play centre half – I thought he was immense.
“Matija Nastasic has been exceptional this season, as good as any player we have in the squad. To play the way he does at the age of 19 is a credit to him, and if he was English he would be getting a lot more credit from the media.
“As for me, I just have to be ready when I’m called upon because I don’t want to let anyone down. You just have to keep yourself mentally and physically prepared for when you are needed.”
